A GREAT NEW EDITION OF THE EUROPEAN DIGITAL FORUM
FORUM 2017 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
The 2017 edition of the European Digital Forum of Lucca will be dedicated to the most relevant issues in the media sector, especially on UHD/4K, Virtual Reality, eSports, and Augmented Reality. Important speakers will be attending the annual Italian event (one of a kind), a conference on digital with important contributions from the industry, B2B meetings, networking opportunities, and social meetings.
The ultra-high definition is no longer a challenge, but a reality ever more present in the producer’s content, the broadcasters’ programming, in the leading manufacturers’ TV sets, and in the retail chains, which keeps track of important sales and growing interest. In Lucca, an important contribution will be guaranteed by SMPTE meeting, the updates from the ULTRA HD FORUM, which Comunicare Digitale is a member.
The evolution of virtual reality is the most extreme innovation, with applications not only in the games and TV, but also in fields such as journalism and educational. During next June edition, in Lucca, many surprises and demos will facilitate the understanding to this “immersive” revolution, that is going to interest us in the future.
The experience offered by augmented reality, if compared with the virtual reality, is less immersive; but certainly, no less addictive. This technology “increases” the experience we have in our daily life and of the “real”, by providing additional information in the form of data, maps, and holograms of all kinds. Unlike virtual reality, it has no need of devices designed and manufactured specifically to its used. In most cases, a simply smartphone and a dedicated app will do!
It is a fast-growing phenomenon, with large investments by international players such Telefonica, BBC, Vodafone, among the first. The turnover is staggering: this year will produce 615 million dollars in profits, and it promises a market growth of over 30% in the next 5 years. The comparison with two of the most popular sports in the United States speaks alone about what is happening: in 2016 the Super Bowl was seen by 118.5 million people, the finals of the NBA from an average of 15.5 million per game, the League of Legends championships by 27 million (Lol grossed a billion dollars only with micro-transactions; such as purchases of in-game objects, accessories, etc.).
The 2017 edition will also host: OLYMPIC CHANNEL, EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, AGCM, EUROPEAN AUDIOVISUAL OBSERVATORY, EBU and EURODATA TV WORLDWIDE.
